If a child is refusing to see a parent, the court will consider the circumstances and the best interests of the child. In some cases, a child’s wishes not to see a parent may be upheld if there are valid reasons for it, such as the child’s safety or wellbeing or their perception of events that may have occurred many years ago and how that made them feel, informing their views today.
