Brisbane Family Court Directions and Where to get Coffee?
The Brisbane Family Court is officially called The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA). This modern-looking building pictured below is where so many important and life-changing decisions occur.
If you are going here for a court case the entrance can be a little tricky to find, so I have written this article for you so you will find the Brisbane Family Court, its entrance, and good coffee easily.
What is the address for the Brisbane Family Court?
The Brisbane Family Court is located on the corner of Tank Street and North Quay in Brisbane.
Where is the entrance to the Brisbane Family Court?
The entrance to the building has been under construction for a very long time. Even some lawyers who have not been there since the beginning of the pandemic may not know where the true entrance to the court is.
Many parties to a matter being heard in Brisbane Family Court have said “The entrance is challenging to find.” Don’t worry, “We’ve got you!”. We suggest you travel down Tank Street and across the road from “CBD Kitchen” you will find the side entrance to the Court (as shown in the image).
Where to grab a coffee at Brisbane Family Court?
After successfully locating the court, if you are early and have time, I would suggest that you grab a coffee at Espresso Engine right next door to the Court or at CBD Kitchen.
What should I expect at Brisbane Family Court?
If you are right on time, enter the court through the side entrance where you will immediately be greeted by security. You will need to have all of your bags X-ray scanned and to walk through the metal detector.
How do I find the court room I go to at Brisbane Family Court?
If you do not already know which court room or what level of the Court you need to go to, you will find to the right of security a whiteboard with the daily court list printed. Find your name on this list and it will direct you to the level and court room number. This court room number is where you should wait in front of.
You cannot enter the courtroom before this time as typically the matters heard in this court are private and closed to the public. Your name will be called when it is your time to enter the court room and for your matter.

Where do I file my court documents at the Brisbane Family Court?
In terms of filing court documents, post pandemic, the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia in Brisbane and nationally, do not accept paper filing anymore. You will need to attend to filing your documents online through the Commonwealth Courts Portal – Login page.
